Rachel Hebert has been a part of the Moab Gear Trader family since February of this year. She is originally from Huntsville Utah but came out to Moab for the incredible towers and canyons of the Colorado Plateau. She has always been drawn to the desert for its solitude, and she feels compelled to connect to this region as much as possible.
Rachel enjoys climbing, thru-hiking, mountaineering, rafting, and backcountry skiing. But her favorite is thru-hiking since it allows her to spend long periods of time in the backcountry and see landscapes she wouldn’t be able to reach any other way. She’s going to hike the Continental Divide Trail in June and she couldn’t be more stoked to spend 5 months on trail!
One of her proudest accomplishments has been climbing Moonlight Buttress in Zion National Park in the Fall of 2019. She and a friend did the full aid route over the course of 2 days. It was her first-time aid climbing, and the largest feature she has climbed to date.
Her favorite piece of gear overall is her injinji toe socks. She says they help keep her toes from getting blisters (and they look fashionable as well!).
Rachel is also an artist! She is pursuing her Master’s in Fine Arts in painting very soon. If you’d like to follow along with her art you can find her at kosa-art.com or on Instagram at @jive.jackrabbit and @kosa.art.
