Comb Ridge Classic – Half Marathon and 10K Trail Run

The Comb Ridge Classic offers runners the chance to have a hands-on experience of geological history while running a challenging route. Runners will experience the sharp ridges, breathtaking views, and flat wash of the Ridge. Comb Ridge was the home to Ancestral Puebloans. It was traversed by Mormon Pioneers in their efforts to settle southern Utah. With few roads or hiking trails, the Comb Ridge rises up to 900 feet above the flat wash. The ridge is a geological monocline, a single fold of earth created almost 65 million years ago by slippage of the tectonic plates deep below the Earth’s surface.

This is your opportunity to experience geological history first hand.

Runners receive a t-shirt and are entered into a post-race raffle for great prizes from our sponsors.

Refreshments, prizes, and a celebration will follow the run.

All proceeds from the race will support the school-based outdoor education programming of Four Corners School of Outdoor Education.

Half Marathon Trail Run ($70) – Runners will start in a shallow wash, climb up the back of the ridge, traverse down the steep ridge face, and end in the flat wash below the ridge. This is a fun and challenging race, so come prepared! Start: 8:00 am – Runners will be shuttled to Cottonwood Wash Campground for the start of the race, please arrive by 8:00 am. The race will begin at 8:30 am.

10K Fun Run ($35) – Runners will have a fun run along a dirt road at the bottom of the Comb Ridge. This race is open to all level runners. Start: 9:30 am

Run Rules: This is our first run and we want everyone to enjoy. Come with a positive attitude! Runners are expected to maintain appropriate etiquette on the trail and throughout the event.  Because of the geological and archeological treasures along the route, all runners must stay on designated trails. Runners who intentionally leave the designated areas will be removed from the race and reported to officials.

Parking and Staging Location: All runners should park in the Comb Wash Campground – just south of Highway 95 at the beginning of San Juan Country Road 235.

From Blanding Utah, take Highway 95 West 14.1 miles. Turn left onto Comb Wash Road (dirt road). The Comb Wash Campground is less than a quarter mile down the dirt road.

All runs will end at the Comb Wash Campground.
