BEACON Afterschool Program is gearing up for its Moab Gear Trader Dodgeball Tournament fundraiser- an event presented in partnership with Moab City Recreation. The event is to be held on January, 30th 2016 at the Grand County Middle School Gym. In 2015, BEACON Afterschool Program took over the Dodgeball Tournament that has taken place each January over the past 4 years. It is a fun-filled community event that brings together businesses, families, nonprofits, public service groups, and community members for some lively games of dodgeball. All of the proceeds from this event directly support enhancing BEACON’s programs for K-8 students during the critical afterschool hours. BEACON serves over 700 (unduplicated) students each year.
Previously, the Moab Gear Trader Dodgeball Tournament has had groups such as Moab Regional Hospital, Moab City Police Department, Moab Charter School, Moab Roller Derby, Synergy, Zax Restaurant, and more participate in the event. Teams come up with costumes, colors, and fun team names and mottos. This brings a whole new level of entertainment to the event.
Teams will compete this year for prizes in the categories of “Team Theme,” “Overall Winner,” and “Sportsmanship.” BEACON is actively recruiting teams for the upcoming tournament. Registration is $80 for adult teams, and $40 for public service groups/non-profits/youth teams. In addition to the main event, there will be a half time show put together by HMK’s Dodgeball Club, refreshments, and a raffle.

Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for youth, and free for children 3 and under.
